I've sent the following message to the Chief Editor of Computerworld on their article dated 9/13/99, title 'Weaving Storage System with Fibre' by Cythia Morgan

<<<Ms Johnson,
I am a long time reader of Computerworld .Today I was surprised to read an article title 'Weaving Storage System with Fibre' which did not show the kind of quality that I came to admire and expect from Computerworld. I read Computerworld to learn about new technology and companies which are making products with it. Computerworld has helped me to learn about them in an objective manner through the years. This article, however, only wrote about Brocade and how it owned 80% of the FC switch market share. If your staff writer had done some in depth research, she would have found out the 80% market share only goes to one or two small/median size companies. Sun has signed an OEM with Ancor and they will ramp the FC switch business starting 1Q of 2000. May I also inform you that SUN has the lion share of the server business. IDC has projected FC switch market in the neighborhood of 2 to 3 billions by Yr2002 and the number seems to have increasing all the time. Many of the major server companies such as EMC, HWP, DELL has not selected their SAN switch provider yet. So, Brocade's claim to have 80% of the FC switch market is largely untrue in about 6 months. If I didn't know any better and was looking for guidance from Computerworld, I would have invested in Brocade. Please ask your staff writers to research more seriously. Thank you.
