The Intel chip for the PC is the closest example. However, if you "engineered" the Intel chip, you would not have to pay Intel to make it. In Q's case, you have to get a license from Q and pay them a royalty to make the ASIC.

It will be interesting to see if they push a "Qualcomm inside" ad approach. There are reasons not to, they license others to make it, and that would be slamming the people who pay them to be able to make ASIC's

I don't know of any hardware situation with a Gorilla that is as tight as this one. That is why the big fight from the competitors to come up with some other solution.

Q has the best "lock" I have ever seen.

That is why they have all of my bucks.
