RD; Sometimes I wonder if I saw the world in simple black and white terms if I wouldn't be more content with it. Like the guy who drops the ball on the one yard line with the clock running out and just misses the touch down that losses the game gets blamed for lossing the whole game.
Being a Mariner most of my life I come to understand that even in a collision at sea the blame is shared no matter if I have the right away , unless I'm completely disabled I have a responsibility to take steps to avoid the collision.
I doubt the raid it could have got started off in Waco had someone in the ATF not knowingly and with malice made up the false drug accusations. They could have picked up Koresh any number of times and gone in there free from any hassle if they had wanted to.
I'm convinced They used the old Texas "Trojan Horse set up" , then in collusion intimidated Koresh in a calculated way that they hoped would cause him to resist. Also they fired first, and in the trial it came out that an agent "seen him hit twice", & even described where , and mind you he was unarmed at the time he was shot. While not all the agents were in on it, ( indeed plenty filed suit against their own agency but were then put under gag orders )
There was an inner loop that was looking and hoping for a fight, and so far they have wiggled out of it like experienced snakes.
Kosher wasn't Kosher, and should have surrendered but the way things came down I doubt he could figure taht out, the reality of it all was going clean over his head. They played good cop/bad cop to set him in , and lead him to think he had time, then started an all preparation to burn the building in a surprise move that caught him and the news media off balance , and even made sure no fire trucks could get in there till it was totally gone. This was a massacre of innocent people and the preponderance of blame lies on the door steps of the justice department. Jim |
