KZNerd: I think you have misunderstood the point of my posts, or maybe you haven't. At least you gave me credit for understanding that this is not about "who is better". It never was.
All I care about, as an investor, is which product is going to prevail. If an inferior product wins out because it has bigger, stronger friends, so be it. I will buy the stock of that company rather than that of the company with better technology. Obviously, the company which wins, for whatever reason, generates profits for investors. They may win out because their patron has its "boot on the neck of its customers". If this is unfair in your eyes, I don't care. It isn't illegal. Dave B. performs a much more thoughful analysis than I do, but we tend to get to the same place. The marketplace is still shifting to Rambus. This may be done grudgingly but as long as Intel stays the course, the shift will be made, regardless of embarrasments like Coppermine delays, etc. Of course, in the greater scheme of things Intel may decide to drop Rambus and if it does, I'll sell my stock - hopefully still at a nice gain. Hey, it is just a business decision.
For me this process is not a holy crusade. It seems to be for you and others on the thread. I just want to point out that I don't think Rambus is "great". I just think it will make lots of money in the years ahead. I could be wrong -wouldn't be the first time.
I appreciate your technical explanations. You and Dan have taught me a lot.
