Morning All:
I think I've found something for almost everyone. In the St. Pete Times this a.m. is a story from the NYTimes about a company called Handspring (handspring.com) building a product called Visor. Three ex-3Com folks with a handheld computer (LCD) that accepts modules of various types.... Flash memory (SNDK), games (tiger woods golf), cell phones (Q), a backup module, MP3 player, GPS, one and two way pagers, wireless modems....WOW! Article says the company is now working with several mfgrs, no names, to develop the cell phone module.
Who are the three? Same ones who put the Palm Pilot together for 3Com, now on their own with a new baby. Jeff Hawkins, engineering, Ed Colligan, marketing, and Donna Dubinsky, no focus mentioned but I presume engineering.
I know only what was in the abbreviated article, plus what little there is on the website, but this one bears watching, IMO. I have the feeling that this product is going to clear the PDA's off the shelves in a hurry. |
