Peter,
I've read the recent CSFB and VB reports with interest. Many soundbites there!
CSFB:
...we will raise our MCNS revenue estimates to approximately $13 million from $6 million for 1999 and to approximately $25 to $30 million from $13 million for 2000.
We believe that Mediconsult's track record with large pharmaceutical companies coupled with POL's physician base should conservatively yield synergies on the new-business-signings front of $10-12 million next year.
(POL acquisition) With this acquisition, we believe Mediconsult.com will be the largest publicly traded provider of online health care information and services to both consum-ers and physicians in terms of page views (23 million per month), revenues and physician members.
We believe POL?s current physician base of 80,000 active members is one of the most valuable properties in the e-health universe.....
Volpe Brown:
We expect eHealth site acquisitions by the Company and a $10 million advertising campaign to heighten investor interest in mediconsult.com in the near term...
(re e-dinners) To expand the program, the Company has recently recruited managers from a number of peer selling organizations.
Other services directed to the health care professional, including online CME courses, will be forthcoming.

MCNS is clearly making definite inroads into the business side of things. The POL acquisition is a major step in that direction, apparently already well underway at www.heartinfo.com. I'm glad to hear it. MCNS look set to grow by leaps and bounds if things go well. AND it seems that my one complaint, branding of MCNS, is soon to be addressed. This, IMHO, will have a major impact on the share price, if the market is in a good mood generally.
On the other hand, the stock looks pretty poor at the moment. Despite the new (up)trend, the volume is crap. Bad sign. Also, one must bear in mind that there is plenty of overhead on the way to new all-time highs......plenty. Therefore, I don't expect to see the sort of jumping around that was witnessed on the previous runup. Great long/intermediate-term possibilities. Great progress at the Company. But until the marketing begins (the stock will start to move before), I don't expect much of anything. Meanwhile, I've started back to doing some short-term trading this week and am watching MCNS constantly for signs of life (volume, that is). And to answer your question, Yes, as a flyer.
Cheers, Bond |
