The economy in Cape Breton degenerates as every day goes on. From the Tar Ponds fiasco/hot potato, and as seen in the Halifax Herald today news of Inter Canadian and the big Devco Coal tug of war between the feds and the provinces. Not to mention, the Liberals are being accused of giving sweetheart deals (FROR) to the big oil consortiums on the day of the last election. The Devco mine closures will prove to be the biggest reason for NAR/Titanium to win the governments support to start dredging the Shubenacadie and sending the feed to Sysco. IMHO the new government will have to approach the feds on contingency arrangements for the unemployed and soon to be unemployed coal miners. Not withstanding the fact that it is cheaper to pay them a good severance for the rest of their lives than maintain the federal subsidy. Headline from the HH.
