Very good explanation. From the today's standpoint I fully agree. But if we think that a connection that is 'always on' will have different application written to take advantage of this benefit.

Picture that: Suppose I have a 'always on' DSL line. I leave it on at home. While I'm away, a site that I subscribe will download the clips of the goals Ronaldo scored. So when I get home I just watch them.

Perhaps those things are going to happen.
