John, the K6 is not better than "Intel's chip". The consensus is beginning to look like the 233 MHz version is about equal to the Pentium Pro 200 MHz, which has been shipping for a year and a half. Consensus also is that Pentium II, due at a theater near you very soon, will beat the K6. It has been all over the PC Mags that AMD used faster memory, faster disk and double size L2 cache in their own benchmark machine vs. the Intel Pentium Pro one. Words like "looks like they don't want the K6 to stand on its own are coming out." Finally, analysts like Tom Kurlak at Merrill Lynch slammed AMD for not having any Tier One OEMs signed up. In fact, do they have any Tier Two's? Enough?
