The biggest problem the US Mint faces at the moment is the need for dollar coins. They finally convinced the post office and transit authorities to use SBAs (Susan B. Anthony dollars, dated 1979, 1980, 1981) in there vending and token machines. It has been so successful, that they have eliminated all of the stockpiles from all the Federal Reserve Banks and might need to make some more. It will be strange seeing a 1999 SBA dollar produced for a few months, then the release of the 2000 Sacagawea dolar.
