One thing mentioned in the article (that you did not highlight) shows that (from my experience anyway) just when you think you know what they are going to do next, they do something even bigger:
Wim Huisman, Global Crossing President Europe, said the group would complete its network ring running to Marseille, France, by the end of third-quarter 2000, a quarter ahead of schedule.

In a couple of weeks, the design should be finalised for another ring to add the Iberian pensinsula -- Spain and Portugal -- to be ready for service by end-2000, he added.


hummmm, maybe they weren't joking when they said "One Planet, One Network."<G>

As a poster pointed out, it hasn't taken long for Global Crossing to grow beyond the tag of "up start company."

It seems to me that in about 9 months Global Crossing should over take AT&T, BT and MCI Worldcom as the place to go for business' that demand the reliability that only a "seamless global IP network" can provide.
