RB:
Well, I finally found something to agree with you about.
So much of the crime in our nation arises from drugs being illegal...the burglaries, prostitution, strong-armed robberies...one has to wonder how much our crime rate would decline if drugs were legalized.
I'm well aware that many have suffered dearly from their addictions, and I'd never advocate the use of drugs...but those sufferings have occurred while drugs were illegal, and in many cases were made worse because of that status.
But, IMHO, the government will never decriminalize drugs of it's own volition. There's just too much money and power involved...another example of how bureaucracy grows and grows, while our rights become more endangered.
It's also another example of your idol, Bill Clinton, acting the hypocrite. I recall him saying how he'd never be in favor of drugs being legalized, because he'd seen what damage they did (I assume he was referring to his brother's earlier use.) This from the guy who pardoned one drug smuggler, and had at least one other at the White House, or a fund raising event. |
