If CNBC wants to own an ECN that's their business but they should not be allowed to talk about it on the air and therefore do a pump and dump every friggin' minute of the trading day.

Every time they mention a stock that anyone related to CNBC owns, they should state the fact that they own the stock so people will know their comments are probably biased.

You can't prevent a big company like CNBC from taking ownership in at least some public companies but you should be able to prevent them from pumping their own stocks. That is definitely a conflict of interest. Every time they mention the name of the ECN the SEC should smack them.
