ajbrenner,
Reading around the talkgroups on the net and also Intel's own forums, this P3 processor serial number is something a lot of people do not want.

It is where Intel gets there "enhance the internet experience" from.

"One of the new security features designed to enhance your Internet experience is the "processor serial number""
Some scenarios:

If some people want more government in their life, buy you a P3 and MS operating systems and get some of it!
MS includes two keys to their software, their own key and a NSA key.

The K6-2, K6-3, and the new Athlon doesn't have this "internet enhancing" luxury, do they?

Celerons are selling good, and with the new Coppermine being a P3, I bet the Celerons will continue to sell better than a "internet enhanced" Coppermine.
