Winston, I agree with you that ISP business is becoming a commodity. But AOL is not merely a ISP. It is also a content provider and is in the process of laying a solid foundation for its e-commerce business. So I hope you appreciate my point that ISP is only one of AOL's business.

Those who continue to pay the AOL fee do so for a reason. If you want AOL for free, open up an account with E-Trade and you will get AOL for free for one year. I am not advertising for E-Trade over here. I am saying that AOL is available for free also but in a different way. AOL does not have to sell a OS. So they are not very actively promoting a free computer like MSN is. Instead they are saying if you have 2000 dollars, open up an account with E-Trade, get AOL for free for 1 year and they are hoping you will buy their stocks with the 2000 dollars. In my opinion, a smart strategy.

And I am not sure if you folks are aware that AOL provides free access to school's Computer labs.
