Milehigh -CDMA ASIC

The ASIC is highly integrated. It includes a microprocessor.
QCOM dumped the INTC 8086 series core it was using in favor of
an ARM core. INTC also license ARM technology.

The heart of the CDMA chip is the intellectual property embodied in
the control algorithms, the rake receiver design, the search engine design etc.

It is highly improbable that INTC could develop this part of the technology themselves. Nokia, ERICY and MOT have had only limited success.

I think you are right about the convergence of Telephony and PC products. It will be interesting to see what INTC and MSFT will do.
