Not really related but FWIW

I do not understand the technology either. I am trying to put together a machine for viewing *slides* on my Toshiba HD ready big screen.

I want to view photographs that have been scanned to 1600x1200 +/- JPEG images on the big screen. I did a little reading at digitaltheater.com They seem to be excited about the Matrox G400 for HD DVD viewing at 1080i.

I also need to find a black desktop case..or paint a beige one to match the color of stereo components.

I saw a lot of small wireless keyboards at the local computer super store..with onboard mouse.

I use Ulead Photo Impact Album for the slides shows. However I came across some freeware stud1.tuwien.ac.at that also does slide shows. I tried it and like it..just an executable..it does not play with the registry. One nice feature in Infranview is the batch conversion function. The local lab scans my film at time of developing to TIF files. Then I use Infranview to batch convert the files to JPEG for computer viewing.

I have been checking out film scanners. I am planning on scanning the family's old slides. It would be too expensive to have it done at the lab. The price is much higher if the scans are not done at time of developing.
