Tony,

RE: has anyone followed the LSI + RAMBUS = Qualcomm

I too have been trying to find out if there is a direct link between rambus and qualcomm. No luck so far. But did find a "connection" between LSI, Rambus, and 3G wireless (CDMA)phones, albeit short on details.

lsilogic.com

I had posted this some time back, both here and on QCOM thread, which may have introduced a confusion factor. As you probably know, LSI does or will make CDMA chips for Samsung and perhaps others. I don't think Qualcomm is anywhere in that loop except as the collector of royalties.

The interesting thing about the above link is that it shows that LSI considers Rambus to be a "core building block" for future 3G wireless (i.e. CDMA) products. (See the graphic about three pages down). This has piqued my curiosity as to whether Qualcomm may have a similar approach in mind and whether they may become a Rambus licensee.

Hope this helps some, at least.

Best, jack
