Sounds like nice definitions to me.
I always felt I am not scalper... sigh... <G>.
I mostly do trades of second type of course, although sometimes I can grab occasional 1/8 when it looks like sure thing despite trade obviously doesn't have bigger potential - just to stay in the shape or to warm up :)
One more distinction: making short-term trade I often (not always)want to see setup like for scalp: obvious momentum building, level 2 strength etc. It helps to get out with pocket change if I change my take on the trade and gives more confidence to enter. Although when I buy slow accumulation, I do opposite: buy when there is no pace and sell when pace picks up indicating the end of the move. Latest example: ACRI on Wed.
