You two have stumble on an interesting area. I feel that there is nothing about the 10 commandments that violate the separation of church and state. However, baring the the 10 commandments I believe does violate the separation of church and state. I realize this is not the prevailing view.

The 10 commandments is a historical document that all educated persons should be aware of just like the Bible, and Mark Twain. However, I have heard of schools that have barred all three!
