We are teaching our children that cheating is just part of the game if you can get away with it. Professional sports athletes try to cheat all the time, and it is just considered part of the game. How many times have you seen a professional football player KNOW that he has trapped a ball and not caught it fairly, but still insist that he has caught it? Why do professional athletes need to cheat? I've seen Christian baseball players who know that they haven't tagged a player out at home plate, look the other way while the referee calls the runner out. The Lutherans should stand firm and declare that they will forgive those who truly stand by their repentence, but not make it easy for those that sin to get absolution by just giving up their smoking after committing a very vile act!
