Thomas: I agree on all counts, but I hope that Pam doesn't let the sentiments we are all expressing change her mind about the decision she has obviously made. If she has so decided my guess is that she must have very good reasons for doing so (perhaps even in addition to the ones she already posted!).

Also, I am not so sure that it is "the net" that some people seem to be addicted to (including me at times!), but rather the opportunity to meet and chat with all kinds of different people spontaneously while maintaining full control of who you talk to and who you don't.

Sort of like when we are at a party meeting and enjoying all kinds of new people, but not being able to easily avoid and/or walk away from those we don't want to see. On the net you can freely choose who to talk to, who to respond to, who to ignore, and even who to insult (if the time calls for it!).....

I am in no way comparing 3D socializing to doing so on the net, but we can't all be at a party 7x24, can we?!
