Cha2, Again, pardon my lack of knowledge, but does Gemstar provide anything other than service rights under its IPRs or is there any software or other "product" which it sells even though it is "fabless". Not meaning to sidestep your question(s) but I would do better to echo Mike's statements about the Stephens' report. The answers you seek are explained much better than I could ever hope to achieve. In addition, I would also read the short bio on the analyst John Corcoran. You will note that his understanding of the legal issues is rare among his peers. He has also been a long time TV Guide (United Video) bull so his fairly recent recommendation of Gemstar takes on additional significance IMO. Regards Stew
