Michelle Harris, Re: Bible is "flawed","written by men">
That is a flawed statement as far as the Catholic Church is concerned.( don't know about other Churches ).
May I suggest you pick up any Catholic Bible ( has to have Vatican's imprimatur on 1st page/title page ).
Read the introduction.
All copies will begin with the following sentence:
The Bible is The Word of God.
Period.
No qualifiers.
The Catholic Church's official position on the Bible is that it was written by God.It was inspired by The Holy Spirit ( God ).The Apostles only held the pen.
Millions of people don't know and don't understand this and keep blaming the Catholic Church for positions that it takes which by and large are literal interpretations of the Bible, in regards to matters of the spirit and thought and actions.
This is why the Catholic Church's position in most ,matters has not changed in 2000 years: it is tied to what is written in the bible,

Robert... you and I are on the same page... of course imo the Bible is one of the worlds greatest books I've never read the Koran, etc.), the stories are fabulous and have stood the test of time... but it can't be taken literally, and it was written by men so by definition it is flawed in some ways... my question is, why do some factions insist that every word in the bible is hard science?
Its as if in order to believe the bible, some feel the need to insist it is accurate scientifically. Did the notion of scientific hypothesis exist at the time of the Bible? Perhaps the real issue is applying the scientific methods of today to a 2000 yr old book, and that is at best naive, at worst lunacy.....
