Just surfed through the Corporate News Release section of
AOL Business News (a really depressing ritual for those
dissatisfied w/ AXC's use of PR).
Exabyte Corp has a release entitled: " Introducing
www.mammothtape.com The Premiere Tape Storage Technology
Web Site ". Some points they make:
1. To educate users on the industry's most advanced helical
scan data recording technology.
2. Mammoth Tape Center will provide comprehensive info on the Mammoth Tape Tech, spell out key components, answer FAQ,
& give complete tech comparison.
3. Storage Resource Ctr will contain valuable info concerning storage industry trends relating to backup and
archiving, discuss SAN application issues, & include links.
4. Will provide real-world scenarios that educate visitors
on why tape backup is crucial to all businesses and how critical timely access to data is.
5. Discuss why tape has become the defacto standard for
data backup. (tape drives, auto loaders & libraries).
.................................................
This is a followup to my earlier IMO post about AXC neglecting its data division's potential to concentrate on
iNEXTV. The tone of AXC's strategy seems to be to use their
storage tech more or less for ONLY their own commercial
application even though a HUGE market exists outside of AXC
operations to be tapped by others.................V
