>dismissing Java because, as he pointed out
Nobody on this thread has been dismissing Java. It is just that a good number of us believe that Rod is just a little overhyped on Java. Do you believe that Delphi, C++ BUilder, MFC, windows, etc., are already irrelevant due to Java? Java is here. It is a radical paradigm shift. It is very promising. But, it is not the end-all of computer programming. C++, Pascal, BASIC (ugh), and yes even COBOL (double ugh) continue to live and thrive. And each one of these languages currently has far more market penetration and a much larger slice of the dev $ pie than Java (granted this may not be the case for long). The brisk C++ BUilder sales testify to that. THere is still a lot of money to be made in C++, Pascal, Basic, etc, etc., etc. Java is not making the big money YET (SOON BUT NOT YET) |
