<< The tone of AXC's strategy seems to be to use their
storage tech more or less for ONLY their own commercial

You are certainly a man with a theme, VH ....from generation X to Exabyte. And as you speak of Xs and ask Y ....the constant call for more PR - like I am sure most of my posts - generates Zs.

Of course you know there is almost no parallel between the cost performance of Exabyte drives and the DST line of drives and libraries -The DLTs start at $999. Their libraries at 15 thousand. And NOBODY is going to pay DST prices for a backup job unless they need near online restore performance often. That market is huge, but it is not one the DST can compete in anymore than Rolls Royce can compete in Saturn's markets. ( Micronet- as reseller rather than OEM - can though.)

I had wished myself that AXC had spent a couple million and bombarded every mid to large company and hospital and university with brochures about the DST....even though very few would need them, they would at least know of them as the best, and consider them when the day comes that they may need them.A surprising and distressing number of companes and people with decision making and purchasing power have no idea Ampex or the DST are out there.

As far as websites go, Ampex's white papers are the best I have run into on any storage website.

But their decision to morph into iNEXTV is almost certainly their long term future....the whole of it. Glad that VP is confident enough that there will be a future to give shares to his grandchildren.

VH, if nothing else, I believe your appetite for PR will be sated very soon.

( in the meantime I have tried to reckon a value for iNEXTV a dozen different ways. Almost all of them tell me that even if they are successful, full value will take at least 2 or three years to play out. My tough luck. And in the meantime, the greatest risks are market disenchantment with the webtv sector - and the greatest potential is renewed...perhaps even greater... market mania over the webtv sector.)
