Your numbers sound correct to me. However, the SAC members' shares exist and are loanable. So there still exists a float of at least 1.5 million shares.

A friend explained to me that our brokerages do not have our certificates. Our ownership of shares is just a computer entry and brokerages loan shares out all the time and make a few bucks by doing it.

That is why, if the "short" story is correct we need to force our brokerages to bring those puppies home. Since I am in it for the long haul anyway, it makes no difference to me if I have the certs in my hands or not. Besides, I can always overnight mail them to my brokerage if necessary.

Regarding the buyback question - If GIFS buys more back isn't it like throwing money away? Once GIFS buys them, they retire them. Besides, making the float even smaller does not help this company in the long run.
