Hello, David and all. I made one more trip to the local Fry's store to check for C++ Builder sales. What I found out is the stock of C++ Builder has been doubled. Besides packages on the shelves, there is now a big pile of C++ Builder on the ground right next to a similar pile of MS Office 97. The number of C++ Builder boxes in that store is well over 100. There could be only two possibilities, the purchasing personnel of Fry's is insane or the product is selling well.

I totally agree with you about programming languages. We will never see a world with only one single super and pure computer language. Computer programming language users consist of a very diverse population with greatly different programming needs. What people are looking for are tools that could maximize their productivity for their particular job. In my personal case, Delphi did just that. As long as Delphi continues to do it, I will continue to use it. I could care less about how pure it is or what extensions it uses. I suspect my experience is typical among the kind of language users who use programming to boost their own productivity or develope application for their own use.

Basides, the development of technology and anything else for that matter is fast and highly unpredictable. We never know what new developments will turn out tomorrow. Personally, I do not believe that technology development will stop to wait for everything to standardize on JAVA before coming up with something new and better.

Regards,
Baoho
