The handheld computer fight is heating up. In the past week, we've seen 3Com announce the spin-off of Palm Computing and Handspring unveil Palm competitor Visor. Monday,Compaq is getting in on the action with the introduction of its very own Windows CE-based handheld, the Aero 1530. Windows CE devices haven't sold as well as the Palm line in the past, despite the popularity of sister operating system Windows 98. The Aero is attractively priced, selling for around $299 vs. the $450 average price Palm Vs have sold for. The next installment in the race comes Oct. 4, when Palm is expected to unveil its next-generation creation, the Palm Vx.
