20-Sep-99 11:45:15 Cabletron Systems is trading off $13/16 at $18 15/16
ahead of the release of FY00 2Q earnings results this afternoon. The
First Call consensus figure calls for earnings of $0.06 per shares.
However, the Street will be focusing more intently on CS' statements
regarding the near-term outlook for business, as well as for signs that
the restructuring initiated in December 1998 has really taken hold.
Today's pull-back comes after the stock closed at $19 3/4 on Friday,
just under its 52-week high of $19 15/16. A stronger than expected
quarter and an upbeat forecast from management could push CS past the
$20 resistance-level. However, weak earnings or a cautious outlook
would send newly invested growth-oriented institutions streaming from
the stock. Assuming no major rumors hit the Street today regarding CS'
earnings, the stock is likely to continue to trade near the $19 mark
ahead of the release.>>>
