I would say that's an accurate assessment, Ken.
If you remember a while back on the "Last Mile Technologies" thread, it took us a couple weeks to piece it all together with the multiple acquisitions, mergers and joint ventures involving Antec, Nortel, Arris, etc. So I'm sure The Street does not realize the extent of the relationships.
I would say, if anyone is logical and primed to do a merger with Antec, it would be Nortel. That is based on the current relationships involving joint ventures and the internal workings between sales, marketing, technical R&D, manufacturing.
Although I've not heard anything in this area, it sure would make sense, and the GI/Motorola deal could be the catalyst for something like this to happen based on the article you posted.
Still, articles like this one are always good to start price action in the equities mentioned, at least for a while. Just mentioning names as potential take-over targets is enough to get the buyout frenzy going these days. |
