Thanks for the comforting words. I know in theory it will pass, but in reality it ain't. You will find out. We weren't as close with David, and we still had the girls at home, so his going off was more of a shock than real pain. But we are intensely close with the girls, so sending them off, both of them at once and our babies, nobody left at home, is like tearing out my heart and sending it away.
We don't have ICQ, but they have their email hooked up and messages are flying -- about 15 each way in less than 24 hours. Their college doesn't supply phones the way David's did, so I had to buy one this morning and am expressing it down to them. We gave them a phone card, but didn't realize that some colleges don't have phones in the rooms. But at least there is a jack in every room -- far different from when I went, just a payphone in the hall, no voice mail (if you were lucky somebody taped a note on your door) and no email. How did we survive? But we did. And I'm sure we and they will, however much it doesn't feel like it now. |
