Ouch! As an American who travels frequently to Canada (and loves it, BTW), I've got to respond to this. This summer I was vacationing in Canada and during that time a Toronto police officer was shot in the face, joy-riding teenagers were shot (one was killed) while driving their truck over someone's lawn in Alberta, two robberies by shot-gun happened in Charlottetown while I was on PEI for two weeks, and a trial involving a 13-year-old who shot and killed an 11-year-old was going on. Now those were things that I heard about on vacation. And, these acts were all committed by Canadians (not Americans visiting your country to shoot the place up). In Canada, it may be difficult to get handguns, but all you need to do is claim to be a hunter to get a shot-gun. But, basically my point is, both countries have lunatics who are going to commit atrocious acts. The US has a far larger population than Canada, so we also have far more lunatics than Canada.

Hey, and this is from an American who doesn't own a gun, but supports the rights of others to own guns. The way some people talk you'd think all Americans own at least 50 guns each and always walk around with a loaded handgun. Kinda like the folks who think Canada is covered with snow year-round, huh?
