Once in a great long while, Solitare gives me the same message. Unfortunately, it only happens when the game is going well for me. I've never experienced any persistant trouble: Restarting the game usually does the trick.

Try booting your system. If this doesn't fix the problem, delete the corrupted SOL.* files from your Windows directory and install them again using the Control Panel/Add Programs/Windows Setup/Accessories/Games method as before.

P.S. I think there's only two files used for Solitare: SOL.EXE and SOL.INI, so it's easy to get rid of them manually.
