Mike, doesn't the outcome of the TV Guide litigation determine whether the IPG area is a Gorilla Game or a Royalty Game? A GMST loss,or even the joint venture settlement which is being talked about,would leave 2 strong competitors to divide up the market. TV Guide has already signed a 10 year exclusive with ATT/TCI to use TV Guide's IPG in all ATT/TCI's owned and operated cable systems. Without access to this important market,GMST becomes only a Prince.

Not meaning to speak for Mike but I need to get my two cents in on this common misconception. TV Guide will either become another Gemstar licensee as is Microsoft, Deutsche Telekom, US Quest, Sony, Thomson, Americast (Disney & RBOCs) and others or they will form a JV as Gemstar has done in Japan with Dentsu and Tokyo News or the TDN JV in the US with Thomson and NBC. The licensees are creating their own guides enabled by Gemstars technology and will compete with TV Guide. In short, Gemstar will get a cut from the industry whereas TV Guide will be rewarded by the success or failure of its own brand distribution.
