No Evidence of Milosevic Accounts

BERN, Switzerland (AP) -- No solid evidence has emerged of any bank
accounts in Switzerland linked to Yugoslav President Slobodan
Milosevic, the government said Wednesday.
In June, the Swiss agreed to freeze any assets belonging to
Milosevic and four other Serbian leaders indicted for war crimes --
Serbian President Milan Milutinovic, Yugoslav Vice Premier Nikola
Sainovic, Yugoslav Chief-of-Staff Dragoljub Ojdanic and Serbian
Interior Minister Vlajko Stojiljkovic.
But no such assets have been reported to police so far, the
government said in a reply to questions from lawmakers.
In July, Switzerland said it would block any assets found belonging
to 300 additional senior Yugoslav officials and asked any financial
managers handling assets of Yugoslavia's ruling elite to report
them immediately.
The government said $40,000 has been frozen in connection with a
French investigation of an associate of Milosevic, but it added
that the inquiry is unconnected to the Yugoslav president himself.
Switzerland said in April it had handed over bank documents in
connection with the case. It didn't identify the person concerned.
