[OT] Hell, you can't bring any other appliance from Europe [or vice versa] do to the electrical standards, that never forced a change. That's 'cos not too many people travel with their washing machines in tow ;) Seriously, though, if you consider the things that matter during travel, such as laptops and electric shavers, you'll find that they're quite usable worldwide, what with auto voltage switching and all. And cords and adapters are no longer a problem they once were.
