Power Disruptions are the Biggest Headache

Taiwan is pretty active, so even a 5.0 in
the fabrication region should be manageable.
However, we have seen in the past how the
socialist built power distribution system
can hurt these companies despite many having
their own electrical generation stations.
It was surprising to see ALSC down while
Micron and others rose. We must be at the
mercy of many small investors who don't know
how to gauge such news, and daytraders who
don't want to take any chances. Hopefully
overnight we'll get a better picture of what
the impact truely is. My guess is, if there
is power disruption but no facilites damaged
then we should be fine. If facilities were
damaged and/or continued power disruptions
are feared, or worse the socialists force the
fabricators to sell their electricity back
into the island's grid, then we're in trouble.
Also, the countries train system not running
is bothersome. I don't know how much these
workers end up commuting, but you can be
sure it's not by car...
