Essam, I would wait until the quarterly report comes out in a couple of weeks before purchasing any more AAPL if that's what you decide to do. AAPL could drop back to the mid-teens or lower depending on the size of the loss, and the spin analysts and media put on the report.

If AAPL were 10% or less of my portfolio, I would have no hesitation averaging down with a purchase at $16 or so to double my position and lower my average cost to around $31. I think AAPL has a good shot at getting there in '98 or '99. However, if the company represented a higher percentage of my portfolio, I would think twice, especially if I could find a better growth story in another issue. Taking a loss is hard, but sometimes you just have to take them. Is there another issue(s) in your portfolio you could sell at a gain to offset this loss and thus zero out your capital gains taxes owed?
