Think its mostly self interpretation of what you would like to believe and the spin you want to put on it. But to answer your above question... Intel doesn't assume risks, they make reasonable and probable decisions that favor their desired results. Those desired results are to make money for them, Rambus, and any other partner affiliates! That's it, nothing more, and nothing less.
