When I read articles like this it is quite aggravating. These guys use their position as "the press" to beat vendors into submission and relinquish product to testing ... testing that the vendors have little control over. DataCom could employ some bonehead tester which botches a test yielding uncharacteristic results. The writer goes on to whine about the fact that the vendors can't deliver product due to inventory/customer demand issues. Whether it's the truth or not to pulicly whine about such as thing will do nothing to help their cause in the future.

I'd like to see LU, CSCO, and the start-ups get together and write a bash-up article about DataCom's testing methods and submit to Network World.

DataCOM was once a good publication.. they are a bunch of sloths now. I have just cancelled my subscription based on your post.
