I've just rented an EV1 in LA for two days. Saunter up to the counter at Budget, give 'em the info and you are off. $49 per day "unlimited mileage" (hah!). Drove 28miles from LAX to the Universal Hilton. Drive one of these things and you will get very excited about EV's. Think of what this thing will be like with NiMh and it is truly unbelievable. Drive one of these things on NiMh and you would probably go out and buy a boatload of ECD stock.
