Life doesn't have to have meaning--it is just
a happy event--a carnival ride.

And human civilization may not be an exceptional
enough event to require meaning or justification--we
are just the noisy portion of a very thin layer of self
perpetuating stuff, existing on a lonely planet, in the
middle of so much empty space.

If you happen to be concious of your place
in that thin layer of life, well, it's pretty far
out--but the idea of it all is just in our head.

Humanity is a blip in a billion years of evolution.
That we are any more important than all the steps it
took to get here, and all the steps that will follow
is arrogant.

That said, while you are here, you might as well try
to be nice to your neighbors...and read some good books.
See the Monty Python movie, "The Meaning of Life"--
they do the best job of sorting it all out <g>.

If a person is clever, he finds many enjoyable distractions
to fill his life--and he forgets that it all ends in death.
It is a lot easier to find the meaning of death: Your turn
is over, please exit to the right. Next!
