The ad is very brief and uninformative. The visual is a static, ugly, orange-looking background with the url in heavy black letters. It looks like a football jersey. The audio is a heavy, tuneless, driving bass beat oozing testosterone while a rumbling basso voice-over says something like, "the Big hub dot com."
That's it. The whole thing is over faster than a Baptist preacher can sneak a drink.
More to the point, it is a cheap looking ad, cheaply produced and appearing in cheap time slots. So far as can be determined it shows only on CNBC, a fine place if all you want to do is assuage investor types. If they wanted to entice Net shoppers, wouldn't they be better off on day time soaps, talk shows, news, and entertainment programs?
As for the aggressively male-oriented aspect of The Big Hub, it is getting worse. To my mind the whole thing is very off-putting. It almost looks like the people behind The BigHub are misogynists. Puzzling. What did women ever do to them? |
