Today's San Diego Union has an article about MacDonald's 55 cent breakfast muffin promotion, similar to the coming burger promo. It does not appear to be going very well.

"It's supposed to be a deal too McTasty to resist: meat and scrambled eggs on a muffin for 55 cents.

But McDonald's new breakfast promotion -- designed to fortify recent anemic same-store revenues -- hardly seemed to be whetting local appetites yesterday during its premiere.

At a McDonald's on Midway Drive, for instance, a manager said "we're doing a little better" than average daily sales of 305 Egg McMuffins and kindred top-of-the-morning sandwich fare.

Some customers seemed unimpressed with the discount campaign."
