No question investing in R&D stocks is high risk, and buyer beware. I would always advise anyone to spread their risk across a number of companies. But if you take the long view on a company whose management and technology is solid, your chances of payoff are much higher.

As far as the analyst shorting the stock, as far as I know that would be impossible, since this it is traded on the SmallCap NASDAQ.
