Mika,

<< Terminology has all but been sorted, even Ericsson doesn't call TDMA as D-AMPS >>

... about time <g>.

<< Not sure how PDC fits in the equation >>

... Nor I.

<< Agree with Mikko Salminen fo Radiolinja that the market window of HSCSD is too short >>

... well at least we are doing something right in the US by skipping over it and moving straight to GPRS. GSMNA & GSM Alliance appear to have zero interest in HSCSD.

<< Yes, the biggest problem was the FCC (and in particular one -silent C- Hundt) >>

Amen! Really set back coverage in the US. I was singing his praises after the A&B Block auctions.

<< The 2000 in IMT-2000 also stands for the new spectrum allocation (again an FCC problem) >>

I view this as a SERIOUS issue.

<< Bluetooth aint out yet commercially (thanks to Intel!) and it isn't set for 4Mbps but something in the region of 760 kbps (correct me here) >>

I'm pretty ignorant about Bluetooth. Speaking of which, I just noticed there is a new or updated (I think) article called "The Evolution of Cellular Data: On the Road to 3G" on their GSMData site by Peter Rysavy:

gsmdata.com

I have only scanned it, but like his previous stuff it looks pretty good.

<< Data Communications (the magazine) is set to die in the next month >>

Yikes. The CMP TechWeb site & "Data Communications" have gotten me through a few class room projects in recent years. Presumably the online version will remain or be renamed?
