Speaking of washing machines, latest issue of Consumer Reports has a review of them. However, it is quite biased: it rates the Kenmore frontloader ahead of the NEPTUNE, which is absurd. I'm depressed about this. In spite of its superior technology, Maytag's NEPTUNE faces an uphill battle against the huge installed base of Kenmore GSM subscribers, er, users. To top it off, the vacuum cleaner review doesn't even include the high-end Royal models (not that Dirt Devil garbage, but chrome plated masterpieces with engines big enough to drive a motorcycle), which were of course the basis for the vacuum cleaner love scene in Joe's Garage. "Looks just like a Telefunken U-47!"
