Today's announcement re Kelly Gannon has gotten curious little response on these message boards. I find this very interesting since about 30% of message board postings are concerned with "getting the word out" advertising, PR, or lack thereof, etc.

From the news release, Ms. Gannon's role will be to "?develop the Corporate Communications division, and create and direct the communications activities of iNEXTV and its affiliates. "

Several things. First, this is an iNEXTV position and not Ampex position so no help necessarily on the DCA / DST front. Second, the role encompasses affiliates as well as iNEXTV. Third, while I thought that Ray Marione would eventually become involved in "communications" apparently there is a need for a more defined and dedicated communications role. Apparently, Marione is busy full time with "brand strategy" - perhaps a good sign.

Finally, it underscores just how early in the game Ampex is. Mind that the appointment was just announced. Actual work will begin some time later. Then there is a customary ramp up. I'm guessing at about 2-3 months before we see "communications" from the desk of Ms. Gannon at iNEXTV. This schedule may still not fit in with shareholder expectations.

The very positive take on this announcement is both the recognition of the need for a communications focus and also possibly that iNEXTV may have something very important to say! It's looking better all the time. For the very near future, I suggest ignoring the share price.
